Should Thailand buy oil and gas from Russia and Iran?

It was widely reported in the media this week that certain factors in the Thai business community were suggesting that the government should start negotiations to buy oil and gas from two hostile countries.

Police in Cha-Am, Phetchaburi - a normally quiet seaside town about 200 kms south of the Thai capital Bangkok - are investigating a brutal murder of a 75 year old lady in her house yesterday.

Baht’s current slide is a grim reminder of its crash 25 years ago

The severe fallout from the pandemic and the sudden collapse of the tourism industry — which accounts for about 20 percent of Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) — has weakened the baht, pushing it to a five-year low. (Photo by Kiratikorn Naksompop Blauw)

 

On July 1, at some point during the day, the baht fell to 35.66 to the dollar, its weakest in five years.

People from 4 neighbouring countries can work in Thailand until early 2025

The Thai cabinet has decided to extend the stay in Thailand of migrant workers from Myanmar, Cambodia, the Lao PDR and Vietnam until February 13th, 2025, to address labour shortages in the industrial and service sectors.

Long-Acting Antibody treatment to be provided to those suffering immunodeficiency

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and AstraZeneca (Thailand) signed a contract today (Wednesday) for the procurement of 257,500 doses of Long-Acting Antibodies (LAAB) for people who suffer from immunodeficiency, to reduce of risk of becoming gravely ill if infected with COVID-19.

Brazilian arrested in Indonesia carrying cannabis bought in Thailand

A Brazilian student was caught at Bali airport in Indonesia with 9.1 grams of cannabis, which he had allegedly bought in Thailand, prompting warnings to both Thais and foreigners travelling from Thailand not to carry cannabis, hemp or their extracts when they leave for countries where those substances remain illegal.

Thailand Launches First Round of EFTA Negotiations

BANGKOK (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit has represented Thailand in the first round of negotiations for the Thailand-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Free Trade Agreement with Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Norway.
