I understand that 180 days is the cutoff point, but the original post was about retires (who are in Thailand for 180 days). There was no mention of DTA.
My retirement visa expires Jan 23rd and I have a flight booked Feb 14th. I am not renewing my Non 'O' and in future will do 2 x 90 day stays per year. I visited immigration and it seems I can only extend from Jan 25th for 7 days so I need to do a border crossing next week and am in Hua Hin. Ban Phu Nam Ron is my closest but I'm aware it was closed last year. Has anyone been recently and is everything as previously?
Other options are Ranong but Andaman Club is apparently closed? Make a 2/3 day trip of it and go to Vientiane? (I've done this a few times but not for maybe 6/7 years.
Life in prison or some sort of penal colony with forced labor would not be too heavy a penalty for someone who deliberately set one of these fires, a firing squad might be more appropriate.
