Pattaya mayor Poramese Ngampiches recently formed a task force of 68 officials to examine and document several city issues, mainly those concerning footpaths, billboards, and public utilities, before taking action within one month.

A task force of 68 city officials gathered today, July 19th, at the Pattaya Division of Public Works before being dismissed by Pattaya mayor Poramese Ngampiches to survey the city and document the issues, focusing primarily on dilapidated footpaths, billboards (Such as old and hazardous ones that became dilapidated during the Covid19 lockdowns), and public utilities like entangled wires. Once completed, all the information would be used to tackle the issues more effectively, according to the mayor.

Poramese carried on that he saw many issues in several unfinished construction sites around the city that have been causing inconveniences to tourists and residents but also hoped everyone would understand that Pattaya City is developing the city landscape and infrastructure to cope with the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Plan.

On the few roads or streets that do have footpaths most are unusable due to vendors encroaching onto the footpaths , alternatively sign posts or street lamps positioned in the most inappropriate places preventing full use of the footpath, one does have to feel sorry for any families coming here with small children who require a pushchair.

Bloody billboards make pulling out at junctions hazardous... elections completed the guys should pay to have the pics of their ugly mugs removed!

Documenting these things will just increase the pile of useless paperwork accumulating in government offices, with little or no action being taken.

Thailand the world paperwork hub.

And ban the slow-moving speaker vans that grind traffic to a standstill burning Thailand's petrol & further poisoning the air.

Should that not be the standard at all times?

They already know all the issues in Pattaya. They simply choose to do nothing about them.

Don't forget their own street and traffic signs that are blocking views as junctions and u-turns

And vehicles themselves... I have one who must park in front of his gate at the bottom of my cul-de-sac making a blind entrance even worse. And the locals do seem to whiz past and not have an eye for traffic emerging from  the side.. really have to watch out for those kids or ladies on motorcycles.

True but these are often poor people trying to make a living.  The speaker vans are the most ludicrous method of advertising EVER.  They broadcast a message no-one can hear as no one walks anywhere; meanwhile they p1ss off thousands of potential customers by silting up the roads.

Brainless and a total waste of their money and that of other road-users.
