Cheap gym for walking
I'll mention two issues with walking outside. Some parts of Thailand are heavily polluted during certain seasons. During those times it is best to avoid any outdoors exercise, including walking. Also, hot and humid weather can be an issue for some people. Even if not a health hazard, it's a matter of convenience, and trying to find a way to exercise without overheating is legitimate. Gyms are good for short time visitors; for expats it may make more sense, financially and otherwise, to purchase a treadmill and an air purifier, and to walk in the comfort of their home. -

Tourism Thailand Remains a Top Choice for Russian Holidaymakers
You stated your location is khon kaen, I doubt if they want to go to the poorer parts of Thailand, Phuket and the other rich areas will suit their lifestyle better. There are some very exclusive shops in the Central Shopping centre near Kathu, Phuket, staff on the door only let two or three customers into the shops at a time, when I pass the long queue as I walk past most people are speaking Russian. E.g. : Louis Vuitton bags at £3000 each or more. They could probably buy a house in khon kaen for that price. 😃
