Thailand’s Charter Court asks for more information on PM’s term case

The Constitutional Court is scheduled to meet again on September 14th, to discuss the 8-year term in office of suspended Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, after it instructed the secretary-general of the House of Representatives to submit additional information by the end of next Tuesday.

 

According to a press release from the Office of the Constitutional Court, they are seeking the meeting minutes and report of the 501st meeting of the Constitution Drafting Committee, dated September 11th, 2018, from the secretary-general of the House.

 

The agenda of the meeting on September 11th, 2018 includes an item on the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting of the committee, said the press release.

Court Needs Documents from Parliament in Prayut’s Tenure Case

 

 

BANGKOK, (TNA) – The Constitutional Court considered a petition on the eight-year term of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and demanded the minutes of the 501st meeting of the Constitution Drafting Committee from the House by Sept 13 before its next meeting on Sept 14.

 

The court held a meeting today to consider the petition from the opposition asking it to rule if the prime ministerial tenure of Gen Prayut already ended.

 

After the meeting, the court stated it ordered the secretary-general of the House of Representatives to send the minutes of the CDC’s 501st meeting on Sept 11, 2018.

Court pretending to scrutinize diligently

The only document the Court needs is the public issue of the 2014 Royal Gazette that announced Prayut's endorsement as PM.

So they're having a meeting on 14th September 2022 to discuss the agenda from a meeting held on 11th September 2018, which includes the details of the agenda from a previous meeting?

It's not even brown envelopes. This banana court operates purely on instruction from above. They exist to please one person. No other reason.

The constitution did not take effect until April 6th 2017.

Why shouldn't he get his 8 years under the new constitution?

 

Up to the courts to decide, well see.

 

Do some of you think he might refuse to step down if so ordered by the courts?

This is just a theoretical question. Both the court and Prayut receive instructions/orders from the same people.

I fail to see if his term was posted in the royal gazette how there can be any objections to the start date, especially in view of the suspended Muppets statements on the sanctity of the institution publishing it.
