Stray dogs caught after chasing after tourists and residents in Phuket

Rassada, Phuket – Stray dogs were caught after they chased after tourists and residents near a public park in Phuket City.

 

The Phuket City Municipality was notified from residents that furious stray dogs were chasing after tourists and residents near the Toh Sae Hill Public Park in the Rassada sub-district, Mueang Phuket District.

 

The Phuket City Municipality contacted the Phuket Live Stock Office. This week three furious stray dogs were caught by using anesthetic shots.

This needs to turn into an ongoing Thai campaign to rid the place of stray soi dogs.

They are a pest to tourists and locals.

Couldn't agree more, don't forget the stray cats also way too many of them.

Bet those dogs had been neutered by the soi dog foundation, they are always boasting how they solved the doggie problem in Phuket. They need slotting, not sterilising, and certainly not just knocked out then moved somewhere else.

and there's only three participants pointing out of 16 .....  very poor effort by the other 13 .....   they need some attitude adjustment course ....   much more definition if 16 were pointing.

Cats dont generally attack people and they do control to some extent the rats and mice. Maybe not a good idea to cull the cats unless you want rat infestations.

My cat is brilliant at taking out rat's. Leaves them outside my bedroom door balcony as a present...????

My cats are the same. They seem to consider it the best fun you can have in catching a rat. In the 1980's Qatar in the Middle East was overrun with rats. Some rats were the size of puppies; not to be messed with. They brought in cats and now it is rare to see a rat.

Why stop at Phuket. The menace of soi dogs is everywhere in Thailand. spaying and giving dogs dogs vasectomies only helps in the long term in small areas. and keeps the pet lovers happy.

 

Outside my house in rural Kamphaeng Phet is a T junction. On Wednesday evening about 7:15 pm a Thai came up the leg of the T on his scooter and turned to his left, straight into a pack of soi dogs.

 

One dog was killed and the guy was taken to hospital.

 

The damage was a badly broken scooter or motorbike, a Thai in hospital certainly overnight and maybe longer, a hospital bill he has to pay, repairs to his scooter if it isn't a write off, possibly no job after he recovers, a family with no income, and of course NOBODY knows or admits to whose dog it was.

 

What I do know is that last week a neighbour had 4 dogs and this week, only 3 dogs.

 

IMHO there needs to be dog wardens to catch every dog not securely in a compound or on a lead.

Every dog and its owner MUST be registered with a collar and ID and have a licence. 

 

If found without then sent to a kennel for 7 days after that the dog to be humanely destroyed. NO exceptions.

The article says the stray dogs were furious, which is impossible.

As I have written many times before, dogs are simple creatures that need to be stood up to and never run away from. They will always chase if you run, but never attack furiously without reason.

If only more humans understood 'man's best friend' because they're easily dealt with.

Dogs, especially bully breeds are always attacking without reason, if they think they can get away with it these sly devious animals will attack. Unfortunately the hundreds of thousands bitten in the US alone each year and the many killed did not know how to 'stand up to them' - good luck doing that with a pit bull!

I rarely see cats here in Issan, Sakon Nakhon.   People prefer having 30 soi dogs loitering in there yards while they struggle to even sustain themselves or there children.

 

Misguided empathy for dogs is ugly.

I don't live in a town. I live on about 16 rai in the mountains. I now have 14 dogs, all who were abandoned along the mountain road which runs past our property.

These three dogs would be welcome here. 

Being popular is not my main concern.
