After the pictures of a completely blocked wheelchair lane went viral on Thai and English social media, a group of Pattaya police, Pattaya media, and officials led by Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn went to inspect the scene today, September 22nd, to talk with the residents and representatives from “The Touch” condo, which reportedly let the tenants park on the blue lane. Wuthisak said the condo representatives promised to cooperate with the officials, but he added if the tenants still ignored the law and parked their vehicles on the lane, Pattaya police would have to take serious measures by clamping or towing the vehicles to the police impound for a fine. Popular Post sammieuk1
The wheelchair lane sounds the same as a zebra crossing just another killing zone ????

Start fining the condo operator - not the parker. They'll soon do something when hit with a 10,000 baht daily fine for any parking. 2

I fail to see why the Condo management/operator is to blame, some of the parking may be by some of the condo owners, but what enforcement would they be able legally to perform

The condo does not own the street here.
topt
Shame they didn't check the part further up towards but before Big C and before the entrance to the Father Ray centre. There is a fairly new small Chang distribution warehouse on that side of the road and at lunchtime yesterday a fully loaded flatbed lorry was parked up outside it completely blocking not just the wheelchair lane but half the road. That particular stretch regularly has cars parked on it.

How easy can it be; a big plastic notice saying 'any bikes here tomorrow will be confiscated.' It's the same with speeding/red light running; cameras identify the culprits; police leave their offices to do their job.

It's the city's responsibility to do policing on public property. They should just get on with clamping and towing--and, everywhere in town where vehicles park illegally. My partner and I drove that street the other day and there violations at other locations along the street, as well.

Hardly happens in the UK because of the dreaded Traffic Wardens who issue fines at the drop of a hat . As regards Thailand's pavements , they are something to be ashamed of . With broken paving stones . deep holes , broken manhole covers , high kerb drops , power line concrete posts in the middle of pavements , motor bikes riding on the pavement and very often vendors setting up their wares on the pavement which causes a single file for pedestrians . Compared to many European resorts where there are beautiful wide promenades and wheelchair friendly pavements , Thailand has a lot to learn and is not a place for wheelchair bound folks .
Popular Post Aussieroaming
He inspected the disabled lane for what? To see if his Tyre marks were visible? Condo representatives aren't liable for law enforcement, that job falls to the lazy, incompetent, thieving RTP. 3
PETERTHEEATER
I'm confused. If this lane is on private land (Condo ownership) under what law can it be policed by the municipality?. If the condo committee provided the lane for their disabled residents they are responsible to police it. Just erect a low fence to prevent motorcycles from parking......????

Partner and I were on the road this morning and I counted 9 different places where motorbikes, cars, and trucks were parked on the blue walkway. It's not just a problem with one condo project.
