BANGKOK, Sept 29 (TNA) – The House committee on communications, telecommunications and digital economy and society has set up a working group to study outer space launching business.

 

Col Settapong Malisuwan, deputy head of the House committee, said the working group consisted of relevant experts and would formulate a space economy plan for the country. His secretary, Dr Jesada Sivaraks, heads the working group.

 

Col Settapong said the working group would examine the feasibilities of outer space launching service and the development of relevant infrastructures. The study would cover launching service to deliver satellites, payloads, research projects and people into orbits. The service could meet demand from local and international clients in public, military and private sectors, he said.

The time to do this is when reforms and corruption in the police, military and civil service are fixed and projects like this can invest ALL of its budget on the project and NOT lose 30% or more to corruption.

The government wants to launch satellites? What could possibly go wrong?

 

The US government got out of the satellite launch business in 1990.

There are so many problems that need fixing on the ground

here in Thailand , without looking to the stars , get the simple

stuff done first, you know where the electricity goes off everytime

it rains or wind blows heavy .....or Bangkok and other areas don't

get flooded every year.

Why would they come to Thailand? 

 

Actually, I know the answer:  some telecom companies want to launch satellites into orbits near the Equator. Thailand is close to the Equator.
