Muang Buriram police in north east Thailand were called to the village of Ban Thai Yong after two pick-ups collided and a young child was injured.

One of the pick-ups - a Nissan - was propelled into the front of a shop and hit a stone table that hit and crushed a four year old boy.

The boy died in hospital.

The driver of the Nissan - adapted to carry cows and buffalos - fled in the confusion.

At the hospital Sanook reporters found a pitiful scene with a distraught father and mother and a five year old girl crying.

The mother of the children said that at about 8am she had been braiding her daughter's hair at the table while feeding her four year old boy.

Out in the street a Ford Ranger had been involved in a collision with the Nissan.

She saw that second vehicle coming and pushed her daughter out of the way but she was unable to help her son who was knocked unconscious by the table that smashed and crushed him.

Her husband rushed the boy unconscious to hospital and despite CPR doctors were unable to save him.

She said that the driver of the pick-up looked drunk and offered no help or apology before disappearing.

Watched it last night on Amarin TV.....horrendous.

The front offside looked like it was damaged before the fatal crash, possibly seconds before, causing him to career across the road.

Happened a lot before,
Happens a lot today,
Will keep happening a lot in the Land of the Free as long as the Keystone Cops will not start to do their job and get these cowboys away from the traffic.
