I didn't know that and sounds like a good practice anyway, washing away any contamination like dust etc. Unfortunately I just cut the plant yesterday and it's drying now. Thanks.

we have mites, bug and all kinds of critters on so many plants.  mix your prickly heat powder in whater and spray on if you have a hand sprayer . mix with little dishwashing soap to make it stick. and it keeps all off.   Prickly heat adds to the flavor.
