Popular Post webfact
Opinion – By Ken Mathis LohatepanontAfter the 2014 coup, the then leader of the coup – General Prayut Chan-o-cha came to power insisting that he had never wanted the post of premier for himself. “I didn’t want to be prime minister. It’s not cool. It’s tiring,” he said in a press conference shortly after the start of his tenure. That was then but since then there is now an abundance of evidence that things have changed since then. In 2019, Prayut angrily yelled, “You can try to force me out…I’m not leaving!” This year, he clung on to power successfully after the Constitutional Court ruled that he had not yet breached the 8-year term limit. And now, it appears, he has his eyes on prolonging his time in office even further beyond into the next election, with his supporters steadily building up the Ruam Thai Sang Chart party as his next support base. Popular Post bamnutsak
"You can't quit me." Honestly what are the options? No one else is acceptable - must be RTA, from the proper faction - to the ruling class, and has the brand recognition. They need another coup, with the requisite slaughter of citizens, then the General who ordered that can be the next PM. Must be "battle-proven". Current RTA headman, Gen. Chalermpol Srisawat, said last month in an interview, "The armed forces follow orders from the government that was formed through political means but we do not get involved in politics.", presumably with a straight-face. 4

Popular Post tomacht8
In the past, Thailand was once in the ranks of economic development, catching up with the four tigers: Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan. Prayut has been at the helm since 2014 and has failed to create a positive momentum for the country and its people. On the contrary. Standstill and regression in all areas: - Modernization of the school and education system? - Excellence in research? - Better health care for all Thais? - Set up a pension system? - Land reform? - Modernization of the authorities? - Police reform? - Reducing the national debt? - Strengthening democracy? - Investments in future technologies? - Water and sewage security? - Road safety? - Waste management? - Flood prevention? - Reduction of corruption? - Economic growth? - Better distribution of income? - Transparency in government spending? - and much more. Thailand urgently needs fresh blood with future visions in the leadership. If, as a national leader, you cannot give your country new impulses, you should resign for the good of the country. With the exception of 1976, most Thai coups d'etat have very few casualties. Soldiers do not like being killed and neither do the civilians. Yes he's been at the helm more than 8 years but what counts is years since the new constitution was enacted. Way to go yet then. Whilst he and his cronies could always attempt to change that constitution to allow PMships for life. Then he would need to get elected as that PM for life. Seems being PM is not as tiring as he first thought whilst also being much more rewarding than he first thought. This is a very common developing condition in those who have obtained this level of power, whatever they first said their motives were for seeking power. They may also themselves actually believe that they and only they can do the job " in the interests of the nation and its people" the undoubted rewards being fair and just for such a difficult task.
