Thais in Krabi come up with low tech answer to thieving monkeys - but tourists warned all the same

"On a thieving rampage"

Tourists to Krabi were warned about offering food to monkeys at Wat Seua in Krabi's Muang district.

This only attracts the pests who turn to the shops in the temple grounds when the monkeys don't get fed.

The temple staff and trader Kannika, 48, are taking some frontline action to stop the monkeys.

They are putting up the very spiky bark of the Rakam tree.

It was explained in the 77kaoded story that the monkeys would be deterred as they "don't like it up 'em".

Heaven forbid anyone should think about a population management strategy based in the 21st century - for the monkeys and all the stray dogs around the place.
