jvs
I like to go out camping for a few days every once in awhile, take the motorbike(125ccis fine) or the truck. Usually on a beach some where but also on campsites. Any one with similar interests? I think it is more convenient traveling with a group compared to alone,in case of a breakdown and such. Lots of nice places around so no need to go really far or for long, one or two nights is a good start.

KhunLA
No interest in joining y'all myself, as long scooter rides are behind me. BUT, this may interest for surfside camping. Nephew picked Sam Phraya Beach, for camping, which we met him at. It's surfside, though not really a swimmer's beach, or wasn't when we were there. Part of Sam Roi Yot Nat Park, but they did let me/farang in for Thai price, using pink ID & DL, without much argument. Food & toilets available there; https://www.google.co.th/maps/place/Sam+Phraya+Beach/@12.1525214,99.9820647,557m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x30fdc9f4d7ebf8d1:0xab5822670201390c!2sSam+Roi+Yot+Beach!3b1!8m2!3d12.2432745!4d99.9841113!3m4!1s0x30fdcc1b1fcc16ed:0xc2be99f1a8744e26!8m2!3d12.1522123!4d99.982897 About 90 kms from Cha Am beach (Gmap), and can take the scenic route, pass SRY beach, once pass HH. KhunLA
If happen to head to Kanchanburi for the waterfall, then the place we stayed at, overlooking a lake, had camping. Perched nicely with a view down to the lake. Food available. Don't know the price for camping, but the bungalows were a bit overpriced. https://www.google.co.th/maps/place/ภูชนินทร+รีสอร์ท/@14.3858294,99.1193354,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipNo5Bj8OTBnZUJ0ChUMoDxhcbMnYszzzu4ndTgr!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipNo5Bj8OTBnZUJ0ChUMoDxhcbMnYszzzu4ndTgr%3Dw203-h135-k-no!7i1078!8i720!4m8!1m2!10m1!1e3!3m4!1s0x30e476a121ce9221:0x535c55d227efe963!8m2!3d14.3858941!4d99.1193708

Usually if you offer to buy food and drink at a local place they will let you use their facilities. One of the great perks of living here, there is a lot of freedom yet a lot of people always find something to complain about.
