Man allegedly got robbed by a woman he met in Pattaya on a dating application

A Bangkok man has allegedly lost one hundred thousand baht from a woman that he met in Pattaya that he contacted from a dating application.

 

Mr. Jack, 30, from Bangkok, filed a report to the Pattaya City Police after midnight today(December 13th). His full name was withheld for his privacy.

 

Jack told police, “I met what I thought was a nice woman named ‘Plaeng’ on a mobile dating application. We talked online for one week before we agreed to first meet in Pattaya. When she came to my hotel room, however, Plaeng wore a face mask all the time and did not appear to look like her profile photos. She asked to borrow my mobile iPhone Pro Max to order food shortly after she arrived, claiming there was an issue with her phone.”

OMG, when I get my sugar baby for the first time, I make them to take off all clothes to inspect if "she" really has a frontal orifice. If she orders food, I make her go to pick it up. I don't trust even my sugar babies unless I make a visit to where she lives.

How many people do you trust enough to give them your phone (and look at possibly all your pictures and other data).

And would you give your phone to a date which you met online (so that she can check out all your dating apps)?

Even if there would be no risk at all that the phone might get stolen that just sounds like a very stupid idea.

“She ordered food from an online application and asked me to go pick the food nearby. I stepped out briefly to do so but when I got back to the room, Plaeng was gone along with my mobile phone that cost 42,000 baht. She also later transferred money from my bank application, in total 58,000 baht.” Jack concluded.

It was unclear how Plaeng got access to Jack’s banking data or who the money was transferred to.

 

......Obvious questions  :

1)  What were the original communication timestamps

2)The food order, receipt,  and pickup confirmation timestamps

3) The bank information, location of the phone  and money transfer timestamps

4) cctv arrivals and departures i.e, Hotel and restaurant etc...

 

My first opinion is that this is a cover story for a false loss claim......

It either it adds up to  "yes, he was that stupid" or "yes, he thinks the police are that stupid".

NEVER let them know where you live.  Short term rooms are as low as 120 baht for two hours, according to my dirty falang friends.    120 baht saves a lot of headaches……and of course don’t give them your phone.  That’s 5 year old stuff………dating apps are fine.  Video call first, so my dirty falangs tell me.

Agreed....    What is it with all this news publicly embarrassing victims... ???

 

Do news reporters standby at police stations waiting for victims to publicly embarrass  ????

 

Surely going to the police is such situations ‘should’ be something which can be done with privacy and in confidence....

 

Its almost as if the journalists (term used very loosely) pay the BiB so they can hang around and hopefully get a juicy story... OR, the BiB call them in when there is some potential story and they get a ‘pay out’... 

 

... either way..  its pretty characterless behaviour and shows an underbelly of distaste.
