Siam Rath reported that the Patraphan, an oil tanker, ran aground at Laem Son Orn, Laem Simila beach in Muang district of Songkhla, southern Thailand.

The ship has gross tonnage of 2,037 tons but was unladen.

Initial reports suggested that an anchor line snapped and the ship moored close to shore floated free.
