Feel sorry for AN posters who bought electric
Yours is of course a great set up... This is not an anti-EV comment... (our next car will very likely be EV, because I think they are a now good product)... But I'm not under any pretence that they are 'cleaner'... But... for the most part are these EV's being charged and contributing to the 'CO2' issue rather than resolving it ? China's coal production and consumption has tripped in the last 10 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal_in_China#/media/File:China-energy-consumption-by-source.svg -

Is Thailand Value for money
Absolutely is great value. The exchange rate will always fluctuate, regardless of the country you come from, and yes, my home currency has been on the decline for the last 18 years, good with the bad. Really, Thailand only gets what I contribute, and I expect nothing from Thailand, that way I am not disappointed, and as far as they will take even more as you suggest, is just your presumption, in my opinion, in other words, wait, then see, then react with a plan that works in your favor. They're just catching up to the rest of the world, like I said, I expect nothing, so I'm not disappointed. The 90 days, not an issue, 3 minutes on the internet, extension every 12 months is a little bit of a pain, but it's once a year, so I don't allow it get to me, I just put it down to a system that is draconian, as we all know, and will one day change. So, you just stick to the 1,900 baht annual extension, too easy. Choice, no thanks, I will stick with the 1,900 baht visa, again, too easy. Since you asked, yes, 100k build for a massive house (yeh ok, it's the wife's), but it would cost me 10 X that to build back in the home country, so consider the decade that I have been in it, rent....LOL As for the dog, well, he does give me some enjoyment, except when pees on my car tyres 20 times a day. I consider myself having a fair IQ, and it didn't take me long to do the math to realise that moving to Thailand would reduce my working life by 12 years. I planned the move, took 5 years, sold up and invest my money which has provided me with a tax free haven while living here, so it's been an affordable lifestyle since I have lived here. It's not perfect, smoke, driver/riders, cops, dogs, politics, etc, etc, but I chose to live in my own worlds, with a close nit farang crowd that I see a couple of times a week, shoot some stick, play some golf, go on domestic holidays, international holidays every 2-3 years, so I suppose for those of us with less than half a brain, and have money, we are stuck here 🙂 I will leave you with a famous quote: If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your opinion of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. - Marcus Aurelius -

School Bus Fire Claims Multiple Lives and Injures Young Students in Rangsit
UPDATE The school bus driver has surrendered after fleeing the scene, police later took him away from Wichian Chaichan Police Station. During the evening of October 1, Mr. Saman, aged 48, the driver, has turned himself in at Wichian Chai Police Station. The police investigation team of Wichian Chai Police Station detained him in the superintendent’s room, closed the curtains and refused to let reporters in. He was then taken out through the back door of the station and immediately got into a black Fortuner and left the station without giving any information to reporters. -- 2024-10-01 -

Was he even at fault though? It sounds like he may have done the typical thing you see here where people just push their way in to a lane, especially if they're larger. If he's responsible for that then basically so is everyone else. -

Is Thailand Value for money
Really? Since COVID it's gone downhill as I understand but you can get 5 year old cars for cheap in the US. Used car market is far more expensive in Thailand. I think an equivalent worker in the US will be getting a better car for the same amount of hours worked. That brings up another point. Thailand may be affordable to us importing our money from abroad but how is it for Thais? Despite all the pains currently I still think a low wage worker in the US has a higher standard of living than a Thai.- 1

You can only hope that the smoke got them before the flames did. -

So what is it? It doesn't produce enough energy to power the house, or it provides excess energy that you in addition to the house also can charge your EV's. Please make up your mind -

Is Thailand Value for money
Yeah the little coffee shops have gotten quite good recently. Good coffee shops in the US often have pastries though and those are sorely lacking in Chiang Mai and when you find something good they're quite expensive in relative terms, like $3 for a tiny piece of pie. I love Thai food and eat mostly that but it's often low quality. I don't mean bad (I prefer it) but it has little meat for example and mostly rice. That's why it's cheap. US lacks cheap restaurants with small portions and I really love that about Thailand. I always struggle to find food I like back home now and it's always too much money and too much. -

problem with a hand mower
A quick look at Google, if it is the same model, they is a small disc in the middle of the wheel ,I would say if you put in a small screwdriver that should leaver off ,giving you access to the nut on the wheel ,which should come off giving you access to the blade drive ,as you said probably dirt in they ,and some grease would not come a miss. You could look up your model on YouTube could well be a video on how to take it apart and clean it all up. -

Is Thailand Value for money
I'm an independent soul, been here 2 years from the UK, OAP ex blue collar grafter, crap pension, divorced, had own 3bed semi in nice village, all brought and paid for but could only just about exist, sold up to travel the world, ended up here, struck lucky and love the place. Not bothered about drink, but smoke, here 50p a pack, UK over £10, petrol head driver, done more miles in reverse than most have done going forward, car costs here a quarter of what they are in UK, electric costs half of what it costs in UK, renting etc here 15kbaht, UK dread to think of rent and rates. Beautiful people and places to go and as cheap as chips, all the naysayers should just go to where they are happy, I've found my happy place.- 3
