Democrats are blasting the busing of migrants to Vice President Harris’s Washington, D.C., residence on Christmas Eve, taking aim at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), whom they blame for dropping the groups off in below-freezing temperatures on a holiday.

 

The incident was the latest salvo in a months-long effort by Abbott and other Republican governors to urge the Biden administration to bolster its immigration policy and wasn’t the first time migrants have been sent to the vice president’s home. But it will likely intensify the feud over immigration, especially as Title 42 hangs in the balance.

MAGA Republicans are taking advantage of the storm to inflict cruelty. Very reminiscent of a time when they separated children from their parents, locked them in cages and deported the parents without trace in many cases. Savagery at its worst. If the bus had broken down those people could have been frostbitten within minutes. Or worse, and it would have entailed a major emergency rescue effort. These people should be in jail.

I think these people coming across the border have already been exploited by traffickers.

 

If there was no entry allowed for them, then they wouldn't be trafficked on the way to the border. Many don't make it, many women are raped.

 

Then when they do get in, what life is there as an undocumented immigrant? They are open to more exploitation.

 

You can solve this 2 ways:

- Just open the border and let them in legally, give them the paperwork and a path to citizenship

- Close the border so that the exploitation doesn't go on

 

The US Govt has been ignoring this issue, dropping a busload in front of the VPs error is political theater - it won't solve the issue - but it keeps it in the news. Neither party is offering any solution. Republicans want a wall, Democrats appear to want a free flow of immigrants. 

 

Either way - it needs fixing.

The way to fix it is to process the asylum applications more quickly and send back those who are rejected. That means more immigration officers, not more wall.

The only people you need to ask is the citizens. Majority do not support the wall while the majority support helping Ukraine. Yours is a Republican view point and they don’t represent the majority of the citizens.

A simple answer is no,no one has an open border policy all stop no one wants an open border.all stop .people are under the law allowed to request asylum and remain in country till the merits of their case is heard it is the law.all stop.the root of the problem is with the republicans refusing to come to the table to change the laws.all stop.I suspect that many who try to paint this as a failure of the dems know this to be the truth but chose to gas light instead……

Migrants are coming to work, they are being given work, so more migrants come to work.

 

Perhaps the migrants are needed to do the work they are being given.
