Pattaya City Officials Considering Banning Parking on Beach Side of Pattaya Beach Road Again

But they want to widen the Beach Road highway anyway (again) ...

Anyhow. Pattaya needs a better infrastructure for local and other tourists. It is not done by creating new red light areas all the time to attract more quality tourists from other countries. People need to park their vehicles. People need public restrooms, showers and changing rooms at the beach areas. But people also would like a beautiful beach boulevard. On the other hand it is just another sex business area especially at night time. Perhaps one reason why they removed many benches when they removed the old nice beach boulevard so that they could widen the Beach Road highway years ago.

How about banning parking on Buakhao? What a godawful mess. The baht buses can hardly move.

This might not solve the problem completely. With Tree Town, LK Metro and many new bars in Soi Buakhao they created there a red light district in a Soi without any pavements. Now many quality tourists walk on the road - they can only walk there. Food vendors block the road. Entertainers that look like females block the road when they are looking for new friends. Especially to create something like Tree Town in this area was a very bad idea.

Should be like Baen Saen. Parking at a 45 degree angle. Much easier to drive in/out rather than reverse parking into a gap.

Except that would take up even more of the road and reversing out into traffic can be messy......

The Indigenous population are not well renowned for their reverse parking abilities, but when they attempt reverse parking on the "wrong" side of the road, it's a sight to behold.

Or, worse, when members of the non-indigenous population do on the "right" side, for no particular purpose, and happen to crush an indigenous member:

Did they not ban parking in front of Tree Town last year for a while even though probably the only place along there that is ok for parking.? Like many things here I notice that did not last long.

Some times in Thailand in order to 'fix' things, the mostly ending up either braking or ruin arrangements that have been there for ages, i wonder who came up with this idea this time?...

Typically the attempts to "fix" things in Thailand at one's keyboard fixes nothing but merely indicates that one's own thinking needs fixing.

The no parking "arrangement" on the beachside of beach road, and limited parking on the other side, had been the rule for years. And it helped. Closing a lane would create a big jam.

COVID changed traffic conditions, so the no-parking rule could be relaxed. Nice while it lasted. OH--COVID's over, conditions are back to "normal," so now we need the old rule reinstated. Traveling on Beach Rd. nowadays on the weekends will quickly make you hope that it is ASAP.

Simple as that.

They should do this asap. It’s a nightmare driving down beach road with people trying to pull in or out of spaces on either side. Really has slowed down the traffic and with the buses coming we’re screwed if they don’t.

What's their solution for the lack of parking if they ban parking beach side?

Same as it was pre-Covid plus additional parking at T21 and the Naklua fish market. Reality is, measures to improve flow of traffic, and measures to enable parking of vehicles, are forever at odds!
