Post pandemic tourism revival: Taiwanese tourists hit Samui - 200,000 Chinese expected in 2023

Naew Na reported on the continued revival of foreign tourism after the pandemic and how it is impacting the southern holiday island of Koh Samui in Surat Thani.

 

On Monday the first group of 142 Taiwanese tourists since Covid 19 hit three years ago arrived at the international airport in Surat on a direct charter.

 

They were met by Surat governor Wichawut Jinto and representatives from the state and private sector.

After a one night stay in the city they were on their way to the island on the Raja Ferry.

 

The media suggested in their headline they would be making merit at temples and visiting the island's famously saucy "Hin Ta Hin Yai" beachside rocks.

They were expected to spend 5 million baht during their stay.

 

Naew Na's tourism sources said that direct flights to the island itself on Chengdu Airways in China would resume on February 26th.

There are 100 million residents in Chengdu and they love Samui's beaches. 

 

Meanwhile Chinese tour companies are actively marketing the island advertizing trips utilizing Surat Thani International Airport as a stopping off point. 

 

This year 200,000 Chinese are expected to visit Samui.

Please stop mixing Taiwanese with Mainland Chinese.  Despite what the criminal bullies in Beijing would have everyone believe, they are two separate countries, with two separate cultural identities and separate manners and education.  There is a World of difference between them.  One are very acceptable tourists, the others are not.
