Thais as confused as foreigners! So why do Thais stuff coins in their ears!?

Never noticed it, but is it only in one ear?  -You guys are stating odd amounts like B3-5.

Then again, I used to put pennies in my penny loafers and never knew why.

If you are poor and your clothes don't have pockets, where else do you store your coins.

It's always the same on AN forums, Thais doing things differently is a cause for negative, hateful comments.

It must be awful living amongst the Thais with so much hate.

I'm so sorry for some of the foreigners here.

Please be careful, all that hate inside can lead to major health issues.

Sadly I went to sleep last night before there were some derogatory, hateful comments removed, it bothered me all night.

I see you are one of the active fan's that I described above, take care with your health and keep up the good work. ????

I think your comments were fuelled by beer Chang, after you just got home.

Please state the hate filled comments I made,  that were removed.

Oh yes,  you can't because they never existed in the first place.

In olden days it was the bus fare home.

So if you catch them on the way to work there are coins in both ears?

I was told years and years ago it was popular amongst field workers, money was tight and they didn't want to lose the bit they had when they were bent down pulling the rice. Lack of pockets or holes in pockets was alleged to have played a part.

When they migrated to the cities it continued out of habit.

When did I say that you made a hate comment that was removed?

Signs you've been in Thailand too long:

You keep coins in your ears.

The footprints on the toilet seat are yours.

You can fall asleep on top of a wall.

You can use the utterance "urrrghh" to signify 15 different things.

You point at things with your mouth.

Etc.

It used to entertain me... I’d joke about it with other Thai’s and they’d laugh about it it too....

5 Baht in the ear, Pack of Cigarettes under their t-shirt on their shoulder, ya-dom up a nostril, woman’s hair-band holding the hair back, t-shirt hitched up exposing the belly to cool down !!!

And the guys that grow their little fingers' nail long.

A bit lower comes to mind  ????

In the mid '70s where I worked a lady told a story about her sister that worked in a hospital. The story was an old lady was admitted to hospital with her  er , downstairs front toilet full of money , yup.

Where I worked were about 5 girls who were sewing baby clothes. Next day I asked if there had been any change .  That stopped the girls sewing for a couple of minutes.

"Thai guys with coins in their ear, what's the meaning?"

Maybe it's because these guys have actually found an effective way of deadening the boom-boom racket emanating from those who have nothing better to do with their sad and pathetic existences than sadistically inflict their multi-megawatt sound systems turned up to full volume/bass on their neighbours??!!????

Perhaps trying to give themselves some cents (sense).

I might try it with the wife. Put a coin in the slot and see if starts making sense (cents).

Never heard of or seen this.

Are you in Bangkok, CM city or Pattaya?????

I'm in the REAL Thailand............................every kid has coins in their ears, the elders balance snakes on their heads, wives dance with elephants, and I have to fight 10 water buffalos just to get to the local well.   Ghosts run the local 7-11, and I haven't heard English in 12 years while covering my body in tattoos to protect me from everything.
