Thai Rath reported that a marijuana shop in the old Phuket city had been ordered shut for 30 days after a gambling bust.

On 19th January at 7.05 am police had arrested Ratchakrit and his group comprising 14 gamblers who had been playing poker for money at the shop.

They all admitted the crime contravening 1959 gambling laws.

It happened at the Hi Kush marijuana shop in Talat Yai, Muang district of the southern holiday island.

Following an order from provincial governor Narong Wunsew, Muang district chief Phairoj Srilamun issued a closure order that was posted at the shop.

It will be closed from now until March 8th.

so it was a gambling den posing as a weed store. got it.

Why is it the Military and not the cops?

Cop duds were at the laundry, nicked some army kit off a neighbors drying line.

More like smoke it in the front and poker round the back?

Visitors from the Middle East may be confused..'Kush' in slang Arabic has a meaning other than cannabis. ????

maybe the official tasked with this job needed emotional support - the owners of the shop and the gamblers in it were not identified by their profession......

So clubs get 5 years for illegal activity and weed shops get 30 days. Got it!!

is it possible to play cards stoned.

Great "poker face" when you don't understand what the cards in your hand mean but bluff anyway.

Man when I used to toke it up I was so wasted I couldn't play Snap let alone gamble at Poker and have any chance of winning hahahaha????????????

Another reason to close them down. Smoking cannabis leads to gambling.  :whistling:

The military are there to see the cops do their job and don't accept a pay-off.

Fairly common to see military with cops at checkpoints around Chiang Mai.

The police corner by the dirty klong in Loi Kroh being one place with both.
