The president of SpaceX revealed the company has taken active steps to prevent Ukrainian forces from using the critical Starlink satellite technology with Ukrainian drones that are a key component of their fight against Russia.

“There are things that we can do to limit their ability to do that,” Gwynne Shotwell told reporters on Wednesday, referencing reports on Starlink and drone use. “There are things that we can do, and have done.”

I would think that the U.S. (government/pentagon) could subcribe to the StarLink Premium Package, for a significant fee, including the option for "Password Sharing"?

For almost a year Musk was sponsoring ukrainian government, that including ukrainian military, with free satelite internet connection.
That is not cheap technology.
In the process he gave away thousands of terminals, many more thousands he sold to the other contries, which donated them to ukraine.
He allowed soldiers to use it on battlefield for communication, but restricted coverage beyond front line - that rather to prevent russians using it than deliberately hindering advance of ukraine.
Sometimes around september he temporarily stopped his service, probably to force ukrainians and pentagon to pay.
When pentagon recently stopped communicating, that is refusing any payment, he restricted military use.

Fair on him.

For his proposal for peace talks in ukraine he was condemned by zelensky and put on mirotvorec hit list.
That is an online database with enemies of ukraine, with thousand names. There are over 20 americans - that including henry kissinger, scott ritter. Brits roger waters from rolling stones. Moscow journalist zuginska (sp) was on that list and her car was bombed

Which dodges the facts of what Musk’s proposal was.

Do we really want world diplomacy to be led by the spoilt, over-indulged children of dubious blood diamond miners?

Personally, I can't wait for Paris Hilton to come forward with her peace plan.

There's enough wrong with Musk without linking his family to claims of being diamond miners of any sort.

There was a report that his father  may have been an owner of an emerald mine in Zambia.

there is nothing to justify putting Musk on a hit list by mirotvorec.

Yet he was, and still is, helping ukrainian military to use his facilities, which were donated as humanitarian aid for civilians, not as military one.

What he said is obvious and it was a base for peace talks in Istanbul at end of March 2022. Peace agreement was ready to sign in early April.

Boris Johnson has torpedoed this talks by a swift visit to kiev.

That war had chance to end within a 2 months from it's start, with a few hundred dead on each side.

Now it's thousands times more, with hundreds thousands on each side. And with not any peace talks that war will last forever and cost millions of lives.

Let paris hilton or pope to end, what Erdogan couldn't in 2022.

Another option is ukrainian citizens itself getting antiwar stance and deposing Zelensky from power.

In that scenario it would be rather ukrainian military signing peace deal, to stop russia from taking much more territories and anexing them into russia. If russia takes odessa, future ukraine will be landlocked.

Some very good points. I think Musk has done more than enough for Ukraine free. As you've pointed out, the primary goal was for the civilians.

The MSM goes out and starts trashing someone and many people without a clue join in. I for one am glad that he freed the bird and exposed the 'narratives'.

You can never give enough to Ukraine no matter how much you give, only this week he was in various European countries begging for fighter jets. What's next?

He's already demanded that the exact conditions for a large scale war between multiple countries be enacted to save his corrupt country - the so called 'no fly zone'.

At some point you have to say no and be done with it - then you get added onto a 'kill list'. Best to stay uninvolved and give them nothing.

Elon Musk doesn't want to provide what amounts to missile guidance systems for their drones - that would be something for the US Government to do - but they won't, will they - have to ask - why is that and why should Elon Musk do it?

Biden should issue an executive order to force SpaceX to reinstate the service. It is a clear threat to US national security interests.

He (President Biden) might as well provide the missiles himself if he did that - there's a reason he's not doing that - they won't get involved to that level.

Nothing of the sort will happen.

Rubbish. The Ukrainian military doesn't need SpaceX anyway. They have alternatives. It's more about who Musk thinks are his friends and who aren't. Musk pumped the price for using his service back when he was threatening Ukraine over it, essentially making it the unnecessary expensive alternative internet.

SpaceX has established market dominance over the Ukrainian battlefield internet services, with backing of US tax dollars.

SpaceX and Musk himself have also benefitted from significant positive PR coverage from the provision of satellite based internet services to Ukraine.

Having established this dominance and dependence Musk is now engaging in extortion, restricting access for Ukrainian military at precisely the moment Russia launched a new offensive.

Putin must be thrilled.
