snoop1130 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 A bus driver was fined 5,000 baht and suspended from driving for 30 days after he allegedly jumped a red light at the Ratchadapisek-Lat Phrao intersection and rammed into a pickup truck on Monday morning. Fourteen people in Bus No. 8 and the pickup truck, which was carrying a group of construction workers, were injured, four of them are in a serious condition. The bus driver, identified only as “Samran”, is reported to have told officials at the Land Transport Department (LTD)that, while he was approaching the Lat Phrao intersection, he accelerated when he saw the traffic light about to change from green to red. Popular Post worgeordie Posted February 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 20, 2023 Just goes to show, they ,the Authorities are not serious about solving the problems that occur everyday on Thai roads , there is no deterrent, yes there are laws , but nothing to really make them think before they do something stupid ..... regards worgeordie 1 2 5
Popular Post CanadaSam Posted February 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 20, 2023 14 people injured, 4 seriously, due to a lunatic behind the wheel, traveling at speed illegally through a red light, and he gets a 30 day suspension and a 5000 baht fine, so, after 30 days people get to ride with him again as if nothing happened? TIDT! (Definitely). 3 2
bangon04 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 so in Thailand the green light changes to red (no amber) The countdown numbers are designed to make the drivers test their native ability driving skills
sammieuk1 Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 The sentence must be designed to finish off the victims ????

Banned for only 30 days... he should be banned from driving public transport for life. He knowingly accelerated at traffic lights thus seriously injuring people. 1 1

Err, you're supposed to slow down, not go faster. He's so stupid he thinks that the opposite is the right thing to do. But his reward is a month off work. 1

They serve no purpose at all, other than to encourage drivers such as this one to speed up to avoid the red. I understand the countdown for pedestrians crossing, but for vehicles? What is the rationale behind it?
Deserted Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 The punishment should be more severe. Fine of 5000 baht is nothing.
tomazbodner Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 1 hour ago, it is what it is said: number 8 bus, what a surprise I would guess you lived along their route and saw their driving skills. So no, the only surprise is this isn't reported more often.

Deserted Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Well what is it, half a month's pay? He could have had people killed doing that and seriously injured more than enough. He should be fined a lot more than that and fired from his job too.
