Rent a car and drive in the UK using my Thai driving licence?

My most recent rental was with Avis at Heathrow, my previous rentals were with Hertz and Enterprise, all of whom accepted my Thai licence.

    I believe that in the UK they accept my Thai licence without any need for the International Permit from Thaiand
