77kaoded reported that a male Chinese tourist was taken from Koh Phi Phi to the port in Krabi unconscious after suffering a near drowning while looking at corals on the holiday island.

He had swallowed a quantity of water and was in a serious condition as an ambulance rushed him to Krabi Hospital.

It was unclear from the report whether this was a simple snorkeling trip or a diving adventure.

But the media said that a guide had seen the man in difficulties and found him unconscious.

They said without evidence of other accidents that "it had happened again".
