Popular Post webfact Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 Picture: Siam Rath Two ladies with similar stories to tell went to the Nong Prue police in the Pattaya area yesterday. One was 60 year old Rewadee and the other 18 year old Anna. Rewadee told how 6-7 drugs police chasing her grandson had come to her house. They found a little "ice" that she kept for her personal use. She was taken to a safe house and held overnight before one of the cops - they were not in uniform, she didn't believe they were real - demanded 50,000 baht for her release. She bargained this down to 31,000 vowing she would never do drugs again. Anna said that it was her boyfriend who was mixed up in drugs, she had nothing to do with it. The burly men demanded 100,000 baht which was bargained down to 60,000. But in the end the media got involved and the men got wise and left so she didn't have to pay at all. Provincial commander Pol Maj-Gen Kamphon Leelapraphaporn said that an investigative committee has been set up to investigate the five men, reported Siam Rath. They have been stripped of their regular duties and will be shuffling paper at HQ as the investigation runs its course. Rewadee said she remembered all the men's faces including one she named as "Korn". Her and Anna sought police protection from police in the case. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-03-14 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Asquith Production Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Members of a countries Police Force are a cross section of its population. That is its morals honesty etc. This, along with previous cases can reflect badly on all Thais
soalbundy Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Someone has left a can of worms open, they seem to be breeding all over the place.
Popular Post 4MyEgo Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 This is all over Thailand. You can't clean these corrupt cops unless your prepared to sack the lot of them IMO. 1 2
phitsanulokjohn Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 They simply can't help themselves.Asking them to be honest is akin to asking a bear, not to sh*t in the woods. If found guilty sack the 5 of them, none of this nambi pambi moving them on to pen pushing or paperwork shuffling nonsense. 2

Reigntax Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 I hope the “shuffling paper” doesn’t refer to opening of the incoming brown envelopes 1 1
Popular Post Gknrd Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 Probably costs upwards of a million baht to buy into a position on the force. What do you expect? 3

They can not go to court until there is an investigation to prove that they did wrong. Putting them in a mickey mouse position and twiddling their thumbs is the best you can do until the investigation is over. once completed, they can then be discharged and arrested. Are they guilty probably but probably is not Good enough in court. 4 3

My indulgences were in the 60s and 70s and if I hadn't wised up I might be an old drug addled grandpa right now. Undoubtedly this is a case of drug use being passed down through the family. I feel sorry for these people, the real bad guys and criminals are the Chinese gangs who traffic in drugs and human beings, taking advantage of the addicted. I know nothing of the subject, but I suspect drug rehab treatment is not a thing in Thailand, but I hope I'm wrong. My brother died of an OD at age 42 in 2002. 1 2

From what I've read there is/are temples that use a drug that's banned in the west which ends addiction almost immediately. Then the persons system is flushed. 1 1

In this case it sounds like the money was going into their own pockets rather than kicked back upwards. One of the first <deleted> moments in Thailand was when a guy who was a drugie himself and a pimp, had a brother who was a cop. My gf (mistake) at the time one night said he's leaving (a bar) to go with his brother to shake down a guy they caught with drugs. This guy was not a police officer yet he went on the "bust"...
