Residency Certificate For Thai Drivers License Renewal

I have had a Thai Drivers License for 12 years, My renewal is in October 2023. I live in Chiang Mai

 

I have only one question

 

Do I need a Residency Certificate for this renewal ??

Yep. Do it after expiry to get the 5 years + the time to your following birthday.

Depends when your birthday is.

The 5 yrs starts from your next birthday.

So yes could be almost 6 yrs or in some cases just over 5

Not the first 2 year TDL.

When I renewed my license pre covid, I just submitted the old one with my pink id card and yellow book.

The OP has had a licence for 12 years so the birthday issue applies. My first 2-year one was quite a while back, so I can’t remember.

I just renewed my 5 year license last week at Phuket (I went in December and returned with my booking number in March, long waiting list in Phuket for foreigners), documents I provided in Dec:

Copy of passport

Copy of visa page

Medical cert in December (not again in March)

Copy of Pink ID

QR code printout from video I watched online in December

(bring originals too)

March: peddle test, traffic light test. In and out in 45 minutes with my new license
