Three policemen connected to the Mae Jan police in Chiang Rai were involved in a collision with a truck doing electrical maintenance on Route 1016 in Jom Sawan sub-district.

The police had just taken suspects to the Mae Jan station and were on their way back to their base, a sub-station called Tha Khao Pleuak.

The truck pulled out to make a parking move and was struck by the police patrol pick-up at speed.

From my observations here Police drivers are no better than the average Somchai !     RIP those lost.

No seatbelt for the one who was thrown out.?????

Confirm all come from the same system of driving same swamp as they say.  Ever follow or watch them drive especially motorbike.

One big reason they can't or won't enforce they are big part of problem.

A daily occurrence in the land of smiles.

Imagine if they had a few signs up warning of the work zone, I don’t know a police detail to handle traffic while they were blocking the road.. Maybe even a few blinking warning lights… Sadly this is what they get for being so lax on their road safety… RIP … Such a waste!!

RIP to those lost hope for a fast recovery for the injured officer.

A question though. How easy is it to get thrown from inside a vehicle whilst wearing a seatbelt?

RIP RTP.

They need to install bigger brighter flashing lights and should remember to always have the siren on.

They were heading back to their station so there was no need to be in a hurry and hence no need for lights or siren. The trouble some of them seem to like driving with their flashing lights on just to look important.

That's a good point. If you see a warning of road works it never tells you what to expect. The road could narrow on the left or the right, or both. Then they put cones with no warning and a big oil drum, not before the obstruction but just in front of it when you can see the obstruction anyway.

I once saw a massive crane lifting lighting poles into position. It was a major road so the were tall lighting poles and a big crane. Someone had put cones around the bottom of it.

I doubt any were wearing seatbelts…prove me wrong

i interpret driving at speed as speeding…in essence, they were driving blind and weren’t prepared to react to say an object appears in their lane…

oh well…
