Parking at Nong Khai, near border

Featured Replies

I want to park a car somewhere close to the friendship bridge in Nong Khai over night.

I found some older posts which say that parking at the van station is possible, but they are a few years old.

Does anybody have recent experience if parking there is still possible? Which alternatives are there?

Overnight?

I only parked through the day for a couple of hours at one of the private car park areas.

As far as I remember they asked me whether I want to park for one day or more.

Fee for one day was a 100 Baht (July 22).

There was also parking on the frontage road possible. Can't remember that there was a parking forbidden sign.

I'm currently in Laos on holiday, we left our car in a carpark close to the immigration center on Monday morning, it's in a secured compound, with 24 hour attendance, 100Bt per day. If coming from Nong Khai city when you reach the bridge/border area, you get to a T-junction, the Imm is to your right and the carpark is on the corner left hand side. It's very easy to find. There may be other carparks as well, I only found this one.

Lot's of parking for a small fee close to the immigration crossing.

I use one on the main corner.

Secure and cheap.

Thanks - exactly the same for me (pre-pandemic). The parking company even provided its own free transport service to the Thai Immigration Office.

If you own your car, just take it into Vientiane

I left my car once at the Wat for 3 days

if you wan to play safe go to nong khai 1 day before your crossing. stay at a hotel and tell the hotel you will come back after visa and ask if you can park here.. most likely they will say yes. then take tuk tuk

Easiest way is to drive your car over the bridge into Laos, spend the night in Vientiane or nearby have a great night out and take yur time going back into Thai;and - what's the rush?
