Tubtim Howson, Thai-American who ran over and killed a US college student then fled to Thailand, was arraigned on Friday.  Given $1M cash bail order (no 10% surety) which I assume she cannot pay.  If she is able to pay it, she will be on house arrest with a GPS ankle belt.

 

Article also states she was not extradited (Knuckleheads who keep insisting this, you know who you are)  She used the fact that she turned herself into the police and came back on her own as justification to have the bail set lower (Prosecution asked for $5 Million bail).

By all means discuss the person who has been charged. Her husband and his work, however, are not why the defendant was charged and are excluded from this discussion.

Maybe I've been here too long, but this running from the accident to hide with mom (or husband, in this case) doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

Soon?  Why did it take over 6 weeks to come back?  Why did the police find her close to the Myanmar border when she had been spending all her time prior to the US official extradition request on February 6th in her house in Chonburi?  Did she get special treatment?  Why?

No, the article does not state that "she was not extradited".  The accompanying video does, however, specifically state that she was.  

 

The "knuckleheads" to whom you insultingly refer used the term "extradition" after it was used by the Thai and other authorities and reported as such, as does the news video in your link also.  It has also been confirmed here that, initially, there was an extradition request.

 

This is a quote from your link also...

"I greatly appreciate the assistance of the Thailand authorities and our federal partners who worked tirelessly to bring this woman back and to hold her accountable," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.

That confirmed co-operation of the FBI and the RTP to get her back to the US also suggests extradition, of sorts, i.e. without that co-operation she may still be in Thailand, "unextradited".

 

So the use of the word "extradition" by posters was not unreasonable and you may want to consider removing the unreasonable "knucklehead" insult from your gloating OP.

The funny thing about this is that there was a good chance she could have beat any serious jail time if she had of just reported it.  

 

Lighting in the area was bad,  boy had been drinking, no sidewalk
