Same story, different Brit (am assuming you’re referring to the guy from Manchester who recently died).

Edit: Apologies it seems this accident happened Feb 3rd so you may well have read about it before … https://ukdaily.news/yorkshire/josh-richardson-in-serious-condition-after-crash-in-thailand-70089.html

When will they ever learn?

That's why I didn't read the full story. as said before No Hemet, maybe no M/C license. The Cops and rescue services would know if he was wearing a helmet or not.

Not only tourists but Thais and expats. I live in lower Petchabun near Sri Thep.  I frequently see the expats who live around here riding along in shorts , sandals and no helmets.. Only about 1 in 10 bothers to put a helmet on. One was killed  two years ago in a head on collision. A helmet would probably have saved him. So if you are an expat living here .....wear a helmet and save yourself getting in the news for the wrong reasons.

What makes you think they will?  The culture is the same all over Asia and young tourists copy what they see and enjoy being "free" from the nanny state in their home country.

Deja vu. We were all, and some still are, young and so we make mistakes.

Good luck and all the best to him. No need to vilify him in his and his family's darkest moment.
