I'd throw a wild guess at a schizophrenic relapse. Mix of alcohol and/or drugs perhaps with someone who has a mental illness.  Maybe off his meds for the vacation?

Interesting observation; I just looked at the video again...

 

The thing that strikes me as strange is that IMHO the guy looks calm and deliberate.

Doesn't seem to be any frenzy or manic behavior.

When he leaves he steps over an obstacle and strides away with a steady gait.

 

Eye of the beholder I guess.

Seems so. But of course, the no. of 7-Elevens is really high in Bangkok and so, the chances of some extremely drunk and/or drugged up guy doing damage at them are not low. 

 

It is sad actually because I have found almost all the 7-Eleven staff in Thailand very nice, polite and helpful. This incident must have made staff at that store terrified. 

 

It is also sad because such incidents give us foreigners a bad reputation due to generalisation. At least among some Thais.

Incredibly petty and uneventful. Glad to see the a new bunch of 'more Thai than the Thais' brigade has surfaced on this site. Of course this naive group are recycled every 5-10 years when eventually the reality of where they are and their position in society has been made very obvious. This is the same crowd who will ignore threads where locals are dragging their girlfriends a km down the road, throwing acid on people because they were told "no", killing their best friend for 200baht dispute (all recent threads in the news section), but will focus on a foreign guy having a mild temper tantrum.
