Charlie Kirk Says Gun Deaths 'Unfortunately' Worth it to Keep 2nd Amendment

Charlie Kirk, the conservative founder and president of Turning Point USA, said during an organizational event on Wednesday that gun deaths in exchange for the preservation of Second Amendment rights is part of America's reality.

 

Kirk's comments come about one week after three children and three adults were killed at the Christian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights, that is a prudent deal. It is rational, nobody talks like this, they live in a complete alternate universe."

The logical failure here is that the second amendment doesn't prevent or require that no guns be banned. Fully automatic weapons are heavily restricted to the point of being banned for all practical purposes. AR15s could easily be afforded the same treatment. Whaich would I rather face? A tommy gun or an AR15? Not a difficult decision.

I can understand a person wanted keep a gun in there house for protection but assault guns used in a battlefield.

A revolver with shogun shells loaded with rock salt is a good stopper without necessary killing anyone.

How fast can police respond—anywhere in the world?  Americans are well defended from housebreaks.  Good luck confiscating their weapons.

Housebreaks have little relevance to the extreme homicide death rate in the US and no relevance at all to mass shootings using high rate of fire weapons with high velocity. A shotgun is the most effective home defense gun.

Agree but a revolver holding shotgun shells is a lot more useable within a house rather than swinging a long rifle about, unless you cut down of course.

That's pretty much the Australian experience. You can have a wide variety of guns provided they are kept at a gun club. Every gun legal in the home must be in a gun safe.

The proposition America's Second Amendment is logical is absurd. It's about as rational as stepping off the 14th floor of a condo balcony, to prove gravity is just a theory.

Even some of the most backward nations place more value on the lives of their children.

The current American situation, with so many guns and gun-related violence, is very disturbing and reflects poorly on the nation.  Half the people want to limit them because they believe less guns will result in less gun violence.  The other half want more guns because they think it will make everyone safer.  Big philosophical divide. Sandy Hook on one side and God, Guns, and Trump on the other.

The 2nd Amendment restricts the right of the government from infringing on the right of citizens to keep and bear arms.  It is not a priviledge bestowed on citizens.

"well regulated militia" never meant "anybody". Do explain how automatic weapons bans don't violate the second amendment.
