The foreign man then hung up his phone and immediately punched the victim in the face.

Then continued to seriously assault him ....she missed that part out, judging from

the photo.

Lula explained that the attacker was a foreigner from Jordan who visited his family in Thailand. The man had a history of assaulting residents in the condo and is known for his terrible temper.

So nothing was done before to prevent such a thing from re-occurring?

Yeah , sure , the Thai guy only asked him to take his shoes of , more like  shouting in his face  , which is more than enough provocation to use violence for a Thai if the odds are in his favour ,  you know who my sister is

And still allowed to stay there. go figure.

1. He is not on drugs.
2. He is not overstaying his visa.
3. He did not entered the country illegally.

So, "YES", he is allowed to conitnue his stay in Thailand.

4. He will have a criminal record [unless he can pay the bribe fee],

So, "NO", he will get deported [unless he can pay the bribe fee].

Don't attacks on tourists appear to be becoming more common also?

Not that I've noticed, attacks on tourists have always been a staple of the Thai tourism trade. The difference (as I see it) seems to be that with the influx of tourists from the Middle East, China and Russia/Eastern Europe, the violence appears to now be in both directions.

1. My post was in answer to why he is allowed to stay in the country based on previous attacks.
2. It is not clear now if the attack was not because of a rude comment of the singer (self defense).
3. He is from a "rich and powerful" family, so the odds that he will get deported will be minimal.
