Let me share you an anecdote.

A good friend of mine, from Scandinavia, used to be a project manager for the second largest construction company in his country. Some +10 000 units under his belt. Anyhow, he retired and bought a worn down condo here in Thailand - and set to renovate it. I visited him the other day and was impressed by the floor. Turned out it was Vinyl.

He made a small rant about how the technology around Vinyl had improved significantly the last 1-2 decades.

What do you guys feel about Vinyl?

Let's take a "all in" perspective i.e. price of material and installation.

I think it will dry and crack in the heat.

Which wouldn't be a problem in Scandinavia.

Ah the dulcet tones of the analogue recording. Yep, more warmth and the artwork was always a must. Hours spent trying to decipher the inner meaning of the Scandi 1975 classic Nuclear Nightclub by Wigwam , Virgin Records (V2035).

Vinyl planks are known for outgassing phthalates.

Different brands outgass different amounts - impossible to say how much without expensive lab testing.

And if you read the 7 reasons why  link - they all say the same thing - cheaper.  Suspect this is true in EU but not so much here.  Vinyl is the choice - for tin roof homes - here.
