Only two members of a Q&A audience rose their hands when asked if they'd be pledging their allegiance to King Charles III at his Coronation

Could have been one.

I think the only people who swear allegiance to the crown are the military. ???? 

So not something the average Brit is familiar with.

the concept of a human calling themselves a royal in today's world is so tone deaf and dumb it boggles the mind. 

 

i wonder how much his stupid hat is worth ? i bet it could pay the electric bill of almost every pub in england from this last winter. 

 

what's cool is that people have the choice, and are 100% free to express their opinion and their choice.

Allegiance would be to the crown.  How one feels about the person wearing it at any particular moment is another thing.

Swearing allegiance to the actual person can complicate things.

A former US president demanded personal fealty from his minions, you may have heard about that.
