Body of Man Found Floating in Nonthaburi River
Picture from responders. Police in Nonthaburi are investigating the mysterious death of a man whose body was discovered floating in the river near the Ministry of Commerce pier. The deceased, who was dressed neatly, had no identification on him, and authorities are working to identify him. At around 08:00 on 2 April, officers from Rattanathibet Police Station, along with rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded to a report of a body found floating in the Chao Phraya River. The corpse was caught in a patch of water hyacinths beneath the pier in Tha Sai subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi district. A forensic team from the Institute of Forensic Science was called to the scene. The deceased was found wearing a white T-shirt, brown jeans, a black wristwatch, and black-and-white semi-leather sneakers. His body was face-down in the water, and no identification documents were found. Rescue workers retrieved the body and brought it to the pier at Wat Tumnak Tai for further examination. An initial medical examination revealed no visible wounds or signs of violence. It is estimated that the man had been dead for two to three days before his body was discovered. Police have recorded photographic evidence and believe that the deceased may have fallen into the water elsewhere before being carried to the location by the river’s current. Authorities are now checking with nearby police stations to determine if anyone matching his description has been reported missing. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify the man and contact his family. -- 2025-04-03
