PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN -- A substantial operation led by high-ranking officials from the Thai Immigration Bureau has resulted in the arrest of 23 Myanmar nationals who had reportedly crossed into the Kingdom of Thailand illegally.

Thai media outlet Siam Rath has reported that the operation was directed by Pol. Lt. Gen. Pakphoomphiphat Sajaphan, the Immigration Commissioner. The investigative team from the Prachuap Khiri Khan Immigration Office, under the leadership of Pol. Lt. Col. Nattawat Kaewthip Net, collaborated with military officers from the Jong Ong Suek Special Forces, administrative officials, and law enforcement officers from the Thap Sakae Police Station.

On the evening of May 9, the team apprehended the group, consisting of 22 men and 1 woman, at Baan Thung Kwang Village in the Huai Yang Subdistrict of Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The location is approximately 20 kilometers south of the Singkhon Channel.

The group was discovered in the vicinity of the old floating market along Petchkasem Road, Moo 5, in Huay Yang Subdistrict. Upon inspection, none of the detained individuals had documentation authorizing their entry or stay in Thailand.

Initial inquiries revealed that each individual had traveled from Rakhine City, Myanmar, with the intention to work in Malaysia. The journey had cost each of them about 45,000 baht.

Preliminary health screenings for COVID-19 indicated that none of the individuals had body temperatures exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius.

The individuals have been taken to the Huai Yang Police Station in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province for further questioning and legal proceedings.

They face charges for "being an alien entering and staying in the Kingdom without permission." The authorities are now preparing to expand the investigation into the possible wider networks and movements related to these illegal border crossings.

Large scale ? 23 people ?   Come to where I live, there are thousands living here,

Perhaps UK border force could arrange a fact finding trip here. in order to find out how things should be done.

Although what would be the point, they are not allowed to deport those that they catch, and are expected only to make a hotel reservation for them
