Pattaya, Thailand-The Pattaya mayor, Poramese Ngampiches, revealed concept art Saturday, May 13, 2023, for an improved and covered Bali Hai Pier.

The improvements have been discussed for quite some time now, following regular and numerous complaints from tourists, both domestic and foreign, about the lack of shade or protection from the rain at the pier for travelers going to and from various islands around Pattaya.

If it is concrete it will bake to  be 60 degC , if semi-transparent, it will be like a greenhouse.

Months of consultations will follow and millions of baht spent on untraceable companies and contractors.

Only to decide it’s not needed.

Totally agree with Randolph above.  How many times have we read about overhead monorails?  Quite simply the baht bus drivers will never allow it, nor their partners in crime - the BIB.

A sympethetic design. Those who don't want to get wet when it rains can stand under cover whilst hardier folks can stand in the open.......To support that weight the pier will need reinforcement

This Bali Hai pier has scammed billions over the years…to officials of course.

So now more budget allocated…more skimming allowed!

Good point... so we can't expect such a concrete structure.
