On May 15, 2023, a startling discovery was made in Nong Bua Daeng, a serene locality in the Nong Han sub-district of Udon Thani province. Lieutenant Colonel Aphivut Leeponthong, Deputy Investigating Officer of the Nong Han Police Station, received a report of an inexplicable fatality of a foreign national in a secluded, single-story concrete house.

At the location, they discovered the deceased was a foreign national, later identified as Mr. Jo H., approximately 65 years old, of Swedish nationality. He was found dead in his bedroom, wearing only black pants, lying on his back on the bed, reported Naew Na.

No signs of struggle or signs of house ransacking were found.

Several beer cans were found next to the bed. It's estimated that he had been dead for seven days. A mournful white dog was seen waiting in front of the house as if it knew its master was no more, but could do nothing.

According to local residents, the deceased had previously lived with his Thai wife, Banyen, who passed away several years ago. Since then, he would frequently travel between Thailand and Sweden.

This time, he returned to live in Thailand, keeping to himself and living with his dog, interacting little with others. However, on this day, neighbors living nearby smelled a foul odor, reminiscent of a dead dog, which led them to investigate and find Mr. H's lifeless body.

Adding to the pitiful scene was the white dog, always waiting at the front glass door, seemingly mourning its master's death but unable to help.

The locals also mentioned that a few days before, the dog had been howling all night, but they never suspected that a foreigner in their village had died.

After the authorities conducted a post-mortem examination, the Nong Han rescue team transported the body to the Pak Dong village cemetery.

Residents in the Isaan province of Udon Thani discovered the dead body of a Swedish man in a house. Police believe he had been dead for a week and the cause of his death remains under investigation.

Yesterday, May 15, locals were hit by a foul stench emanating from a one-storey house belonging to a Swedish man and his Thai wife in the Baan Nong Bua Daeng community, in the Nong Han district of Udon Thani. They went to check and discovered the dead body of the foreign man on his bed.

Nong Han Police Station officers, rescuers and medical staff members investigated the scene and identified the deceased as 65 year old Joe Hassan. He was found wearing only his underwear, with no signs of injury or evidence of a break-in. Officers found beer cans near his bed, leading them to believe he may have died from natural causes. However, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.

he was found with some beer cans nearby

So what?

A meaningless comment

If you came to my house, up by the kitchen you would find Blend 285 Whisky, soda and coca cola bottles.

But they are not mine, they belong to my wife, as I quit drinking alcohol 3 years ago.

I only drink water with Oral Resusication Salts with some Blue boy Sala for taste.

He could have had a stroke or a heart attack, not know what happened and simply died.

If you really need to know, then ask the Udon Thani for a copy of the autopsy.

Why is it a mysterious death?  The man was 65 years old.  Stroke, heart attack etc, let's see what the autopsy discovers.

Sounds like normal natural causes of some kind.

We'll probably see more and more of these sad stories.

Foreigners, living alone, keeping to themselves and just passing away.
