Prince Harry and Meghan in "near catastrophic" car chase, says spokesperson

Featured Replies

Prince Harry, Meghan and her mother were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" involving paparazzi, a spokesperson for the prince has said.

The incident happened after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended an awards ceremony in New York on Tuesday.

In a statement, the prince's spokesperson said the "relentless pursuit" lasted for over two hours.

They added it resulted in near collisions with other drivers on the road, pedestrians and police officers.

The BBC has not been able to independently verify the details of the incident.

"While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone's safety," the spokesperson said.

"Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved."

The New York Police Department (NYPD) did not immediately confirm knowledge of the incident.

The awards ceremony - the Ms Foundation Women of Vision Awards - was the couple's first public appearance together since the King's Coronation earlier this month.

Charge the photographer with stalking and put them in jail.

There are now details from the taxi driver who says he picked up Harry, Meghan and her mother in Manhattan last night, for a journey which he said lasted 10 minutes before they reverted to their own security vehicles.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Sukhcharn Singh said: “I don’t think I would call it a chase."

However, a duty officer at NYPD’s 18th precinct, who declined to be named, told TheWrap, “Nothing happened. It’s a bogus story. Don’t believe everything you read in the newspapers.” The 18th precinct is at 306 West 54th Street, the closest to where the chase took place.

Key word:  Bogus.  Everytime a story about the fake princess is published I wait for Piers Morgan to respond.  Piers had the taxi driver on his show.  This cries of a desperate act to stay in the limelight.  The most famous people who were famous for being famous were Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.  At least they planned and executed incidents that were somewhat believable.

Time for Harry and Meaghan to fade away.

This 10 minute taxi trip was after they had taken refuge in a police station following the 2 hour chase.
