Popular Post snoop1130 Posted May 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 19, 2023 Tourist police arrested six Indian men for overstaying their visas at a rental house in the Tamot district of Pattalung province in the southern part of Thailand. They also worked illegally in the province as ice cream sellers. The arrest took place today, May 19, following a tip-off from residents. The six foreigners had been residing together in a rental house, with two of them identified as father and son. During the search, authorities discovered Indian passports belonging to each individual, indicating that they had initially entered Thailand with tourist visas. Some of the men had been living in the country since 2020 while others arrived the previous year. According to the police report, the six Indian men had been earning a living by selling ice cream, and their ice cream vending vans were found at their residence. Popular Post StayinThailand2much Posted May 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 19, 2023 Don't tell me; they had planned to extend their visas with the money from the 'gold jewelry' insurance, but the money never came, so they exchanged expensive Pattaya for the much cheaper Pattalung, where they lived happy ever after (till now), working as ice-cream sellers... 2 2 4
Popular Post kidneyw Posted May 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 19, 2023 Maybe the start of the ice cream wars (Thai style) similar to Glasgow in the early 80s. 1 5

Pattaya is cheaper.
sumongkhwai Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Hope they never get rid the roti sellers in our village. Always nice in the evening sitting outside to have a nice sweet before bed. And, although their Thai is rudimentary, they get by. 1

Prior to Covid times we had 3 Indians living not far from us up the road. Rented a property from a neighbour. They lived together, cooked together and every morning went off on Bicycles selling ice-cream. 1 1 3

An ex brother-in-law in the UK sold ice cream from a van, and I went out with him one day. He went to a depot, collected the milk required and then he made around 1000% profit from his ice cream sales. Even more profitable than cafes selling a 2p tea bag for 2.50. 3

Thai icecreams cost 10 baht. I bought some for 8 baht.

Cool town but very few farangs. Not cheap though. A 650 baht room there wpuld be 450 baht in Pattaya. Food wasn't very good. Nice caves and temples. Lots of donut shops. The locals like donuts.
Mickeymaus Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Perhaps 6 less blocking the Sois. Some Indians walk on the roads like holy cows. They don't care if they block the traffic or not ????????????. 1
bendejo Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I suspect they were pulled into a racket where they themselves made very little: fee for the use of the vehicle, not so much of a mark-up from cost of product, and maybe even paid the scoundrels for the privilege of being pulled in to the scam. Also must pay for accommodation. Do some searching on the net, scams like this all over south Asia, and they are sent all over the world. Poor b_stards.
Popular Post shackleton Posted May 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 20, 2023 Maybe the Immigration should be looking at the guy who rented them the property ???? He must have asked them to show their passports and been aware they were overstayers ???? 1 1 2

ChipButty Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 The problem here is yes they arrested 6 on overstay so now what will happen to them get banged up in the IDC with no money to get a flight home, I would imagine the Indian government wont give a FF about them,

Other than immigration / tourist police and the TVF "visa compliance brigade" I doubt anybody else gets so worked up about overstayers, not really anyone's business 2
