Police Misconduct Allegations Distorted After Controversial Police Page Post

Narathiwat - Following a complaint posted on social media, accusing officers from the Su-ngai Kolok Police Station in Narathiwat province of forcing individuals to remove their clothes and stand under the scorching sun, the truth behind the incident has been distorted.

 

The complaint was made on May 20, 2023, and alleged that 14 individuals were subjected to punishment, resulting in redness and blistering on some of their backs, causing discomfort and difficulty in lying down, reported INN

 

Recently, a reporter visited the Su-ngai Kolok Police Station to investigate the facts surrounding the incident. During the visit, they met with Captain Adisorn, the Deputy Head of the Prevention and Suppression Unit at the Su-ngai Kolok Police Station, who was one of the 14 individuals accused.

 

Captain Adisorn clarified that on that day, the disciplinary action only required individuals to stand according to the prescribed posture, with each posture changing approximately every hour.

 

There was no physical contact involved. The rumors of individuals fainting and requiring hospitalization are untrue. Everyone stood, and those who felt unwell were permitted to sit. They would stand again after a short rest.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Kampan Santhaweesuk, Deputy Chief of the Investigation Division at the Su-ngai Kolok Police Station, explained that the punishment administered on that day was due to various officers neglecting their duties, which constituted a breach of regulations.

 

It was a matter of internal disciplinary action, which had been repeatedly warned and reminded to the officers. The punishment administered was to ensure a consistent and standard approach to their duties. The disciplinary action taken did not involve any excessive measures beyond what was mandated by police regulations.

 

Assistant Commissioner Prayat Baitet, Chief of the Su-ngai Kolok Police Station, who was on official duty in another area at the time, expressed his concerns regarding the incident after being informed.

 

He promptly sent a clarification letter to the media, emphasizing nine key points:

 

The punishment was a result of officers' negligence in carrying out their duties.

The disciplinary measures were within the boundaries set by police regulations.

There were no severe or excessive actions taken.

Officers were given warnings and reminders regarding their duties on multiple occasions.

The disciplinary measures were intended to ensure consistent and standard practices within the police force.

No physical harm or mistreatment occurred during the punishment.

Reports of individuals fainting and requiring medical attention are baseless and untrue.

The police station will continue to adhere to regulations and strive for professionalism.

The incident has been blown out of proportion, and the police force maintains its commitment to serve the community with integrity and respect.

The clarification aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the incident and dispel any misconceptions surrounding the allegations.

It is a misunderstanding....Nothing happened, but the law against torture was not accepted by the court.. If there is nothing wrong why not accept laws against torture and abuse.. Although investigation don't say anything as we all know that probably if you tell the truth you life will be more miserable. So better leave it so and go on....
