Bigwig on the island?

Featured Replies

Last few days, blue flags have appeared everywhere along the roadside with what looks like the Thai letters Jor Jaan and Gor Gai จก on them.

The roads have been coned down the middle and no parking in Chaweng from lake road junction towards airport / Choengmon junction.

Last night the police were all along the road in Bangrak until almost 4am. and out this morning when I took the little one to school.

Anyone know what's gong on? Something to do with the recent election?

A royal visit – a princess – normal procedure.

You could also have seen two navy ships anchored up at the edge of Maenam Bay – they were especially visible at night as they are beatiful illuminated – which is also normal when royals visit the island. The ships have left, so the visit is over.

The royals use to stay at W in Maenam, which also seemed the case this time, based on road markings and police.

Lots of police in Bangrak this morning waiting for a 'convoy'.

The HRH the princess was presumably leaving the island...????

Since there is no war going on at the moment, it seems as sensible use of the ships and soldiers for something, instead of them getting bored by doing nothing...:whistling:

or do to the fact there is no war nor is anyone going to invade thailand.......why even have a navy in the first place ?

seems like a sensible idea to just go ahead and not even have one. saving the entirety of the money and be able to use it for real community and country building.

I thought the purpose of navy ships was that they are not easily seen.
