Thai Anti-Cannabis Campaigner Pleased with Coalition’s MOU, Urges to Shut Down All Cannabis Shops

Outspoken anti-cannabis campaigner Chuwit Kamolvisit was particularly pleased after seeing that the Move Forward-led coalition, in a memorandum of understanding (MOU), planned to regulate cannabis as a narcotic again.

 

Chuwit was one of the attendees at Monday’s signing of MOU of the eight-party coalition led by the Move Forward party.

 

In the MOU, the coalition said they intended to regulate cannabis as a narcotic and introduce penalties for its misuse after taking office.

 

Despite this, coalition leader Pita Limjaroenrat assured that cannabis business operators who operate in accordance with the law do not have to worry, as the problem with marijuana lies in its legal status.

After regulating cannabis, operators could still operate as usual but with certain additional regulations, according to Pita.

 

Regarding this issue, Chuwit, who had been actively campaigning against the misuse of the plant, responded that he was pleased with the policy but stated that after it took effect, all cannabis shop operators had no choice but to close down their venues in his opinion.

and that he did. this is one of the few times in my life i can actually point at someone and say he/she is a turn coat without second guessing myself. he went from tackling corruption to taking on pot heads. a real bold move. makes me wonder, did he actually get scared into stopping to do the right thing by stopping denouncing corruption?

It seems many people see this as a black and white issue.

Allow it without any regulations or ban it completely. Does that make sense?

 

Lot of professionals who work with drug addicts for years think it is a good idea to legalize drugs. Because illegal drugs are dirty and make people sick. And because they are illegal, they are expensive and lots of crime exists in the drug trade and crimes that people commit to get money for drugs.

 

It should be in all out interest to make this situation better. Help people who need help. But don't inspire new people to take drugs or take more drugs. There is a middle path, and we must find it to improve the situation.

most weed sold in Thailand was produced by mexican cartels in California with forced labor, tons of chemicals, no ethics, hig load of THC, cheap price, all that arrived in Thailand with the help of corrupt officials, to crush local weed producers and get most of the business' money.

I will agree alcoholics reek just as bad as people smoking weed, BUT, whilst staying in Blackpool for 2 years for covid, I smelt about 200 weed reekers to every 1 alcoholic  - mostly when they had used up all their dole money and were hawking their tv's for the month in Cash Converters
