Bangkok to Celebrate Pride Month in June

BANGKOK (NNT) - Bangkok is gearing up for an extraordinary celebration of diversity, equality and unity as it prepares to host Bangkok Pride Month in June. The capital is set to transform into a vibrant hub of love, acceptance and empowerment, honoring the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

 

Throughout the entire month, the city will showcase a lineup of sensational events, including the highly anticipated Bangkok Pride Parade on June 4. Renamed Bangkok Pride for the 2023 edition, the parade aims to position Bangkok as a potential host for World Pride in the future.

 

Under the theme of "Beyond Gender," Bangkok Pride Month 2023 will advocate for four essential issues, namely Gender Recognition, Marriage Equality, Sex Workers’ Rights and LGBTQ+ Equal Rights to Health. The month-long celebration will be filled with various vibrant and creative activities, including six parades representing the LGBTQ+ community - all designed to communicate and amplify their voices.

 

The parades, organized around the theme of "LGBTQ+ well-being," will emphasize the significance of well-being for individuals with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, with the aim of enhancing their quality of life. Social and community organizations, activists, and LGBTQ+ community networks will actively participate in the parades, with each having its own unique character:

 

In addition to the parades, Bangkok Pride Month 2023 will offer a diverse range of events and parties throughout June. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy film festivals, parties, cruise parties, drag brunches and pride-themed events hosted by prominent hotels such as Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok and W Bangkok.

well, here is my perspective from the peanut gallery.

 

sexual behavior is part of a bigger umbrella - eccentricity vs conservatism

 

they are flashing their eccentricity in your face to challenge your notion that being conservative is 'normal'.

 

to them, being eccentric is 'normal'.

Nothing to do with hate. I think "Gays" are delusional about their self importance. Most people don't care about, it's the constant "In Your Face" attitude that riles. 

 

I think it's a mistake for the Equal Rights and Equality groups to align themselves with the Gays.  These are serious important issues and to be associate together with a frivolous group like Gays will not do their serious cause any good at all.

 

Why do these Gay groups have to constantly remind everyone and themselves how absolutely Gay they are. Is this what defines them, is this what they are, just Gay?

 

I read somewhere someone asked the question "Is being Gay a fashion statement" I  wasn't interested in reading the answer but it does seem to have some merit. The Vegans are considered a joke because of their persistence of informing anyone at every opportunity  "I'm Vegan"

 

I think the Gays have surpassed that level of annoyance. Is that what defines them? Not I'm an Architect, Doctor, teacher, no the first thing is I'm Gay. How pathetically sad.

 

Many famous characters throughout history have been Gay, but are remembered for their achievements not for being Gay. Sadly the present generation will be remembered for their alternative lifestyle first, regardless of any achievements they may attain.

 

On here there are those who are known for their positive contribution to this forum. We get valuable information from posters about building, electric, medical issues and the like. These posters are known for what they are. Unfortunately, as in life, there are those who are only known for constantly wave the rainbow flag, and not much else.

 

It makes me sad that these "Alternative Lifestyle" groups have hijacked the Rainbow.

To kids all over the world the rainbow was a magical wondrous thing with pots of gold to find. Even when Green Peace used the Rainbow it was alright, saving the planet was good.

But now the Rainbow has lost it's magic. What can I tell my little girl when she gets all exited about seeing a Rainbow news clip, but then her face drops because of all the weird scary people prancing around like demented clowns.

 

How can I explain a tarnished Rainbow to her sad little face?

Pride month and Gay Pride Day parades started as a protest movement in the US related to the Stonewall Riots.

So this is a part of gay culture that has gone global.

Pride Month in no way signifies that civil rights for other groups are less important.

 

In fact this might be hard for you but if you care to think about it LGBT includes every kind of people that exist in the world.

I will add that people should consider the Pride Month started in the US and irs become part of US culture for there to be days or months dedicated to almost anything you can imagine.

Such as Black History month.

 

I will also add that no group is a monolith. Just because there is a particular tradition doesn’t mean that everyone in that group participates in it or even approves of it.
