Travel insurance company recommendations.

Featured Replies

Friend and I are flying to KL for a week away in July.

The website I used to book the tickets didn't have any trip insurance recommendations.

So.

Anybody know of a good company that I can use?

I'm an older USA guy..and young lady friend is Thai. ..

Thanks.

I use AXA when travelling abroad and domestically, whether they are any good I don't know as I haven't had to make a claim fortunately.

Generally speaking the bigger insurers are usually reputable, you would hope.

For your Thai lady subscribing to travel-insurance using the Thai branche of MSIG would be an option.

I booked this afternoon for my thai lady (53 years old) the Easy travel-insurance policy for our 6 week trip to Europe.  Costs only 1.200,- THB with more than decent coverage.

I used to buy travel-insurance for my trips, but I now opened an N26 bank-account (a German based Internet bank) which provides for 10,- Euro/month an incredibly generous travel-insurance policy, and you do not even have to book your travel or flights using the account.  Unfortunately it is only available for EU citizens, but Revolut offers a comparable (but less generous) package so that might be an option.

Note that booking your trip with a Golden (or higher) creditcard also often has travel-insurance included.

For your gf I suggest

https://www.allianz.co.th/en/travel-insurance

But they will not insure you as their age cut off is 79.

Do you have health insurance in Thailand? If so have you checked your policy?  many will cover emergency care on short trips abroad.

If not this one appears to indure up to age 80 https://www.aig.co.th/en/personal/travel-guard-insurance/travel-guard-international-extra#accordion-b6f254a409-item-214904aa9e
