TaaSaparot
Who remembers for many years, sitting in Lan Pho Park, under the shade of trees, with your seafood that you had bought in the market, and got cooked by one of the nearby vendors? Then they bulldozed it, to build the multi storey car park. But don't worry, we will rebuild the park they said. Today!

Then on to the PATTAYA sign, past the what used to pass as a police office caff, a quick turn on the very delapidated outdoor gym equipment, closed for covid, and all the way back up to the other set of vertiginous steps down to my bike. And pick up an Indian Thali on 2nd for breakfast. Ah, they were the days. Lockdown! Didn't you love it? 2

redwood1
Does anyone here think the systematic destruction of Pattayas few parks and the beach front is a accident?..... Its 100% no accident......Its all well planned... They even had the nerve to create a flat blue area of nothingness where the Park should have gone at Lan Pho... And dont anyone say they made that new park in Jomtien.....That place is a compleate lifeless bore that no one ever goes to... For example the beach promenade used to attract Europeans before it was destroyed. All they want here are oblivious Thais, chinese, Indians, and Russians. I guess they don't care about the lost business at selected venues.

There is nothing evil about the agenda. The problem with a place like Pattaya is that an nice environment attracts the low life. When there was seating you couldn't find one for drunks sleeping it off with empty bottles strewn everywhere. Apart from that there were ladies of the night plying their wares and ladyboys lurking in the shadows. The concrete environment may not be to your liking but it helps deter the low life. Pattaya beach area is aimed at attracting tourists and low life is now seen as a deterrent in that respect. Unfortunately the expat community is insignificant in the bigger picture and would need to look further afield. 1

Compare with Nang Ram beach past Sattahip, lots of natural trees in the sand, Thais love it and the best around

Unfortunately the expat community is insignificant in the bigger picture and would need to look further afield. "Pattaya beach is aimed at attracting tourists" Could have fooled me. So let me get this straight: What previously was a nice environment , see photos ( with no "drunks and bottles strewn all over" A nice environment that attracted the Europeans in July and August, mini high season. Now the city;-contractors transform that nice area into a glorified road with locals on motorbikes, pickup parties. The Europeans stopped putting up with that ****show . And by the way most tourists not here for the girls only go to that area in daytime. In another topic the beach venders complained about lack of business because of parking. That is not the problem. Look again at before/after photos and have some coffee. 2
morrobay
Sure enough let's ruin the promenade to attract tourists, Can't have anymore of this. FYI alot of tourists like looking at the hookers, why do you think walking st is an attraction? Actually it is the Thais who are ashamed of the rap Pattaya has who are behind this destroy the promenade agenda Edited June 14, 2023 by morrobay 1

I said it would be seen as a deterrent, not that it would work. In nearly 25 years I have seen a lot of changes along beach road some for the better but mainly for the worse. Nothing they have done has ever had a satisfactory outcome. Once it had become a magnet for the low life robbery and assault increased significantly. It was inevitable the authorities were going to try anything they could to bring that down. If there is no potential victims on the beach there has to have been a reduction. Very unlikely there will ever be a solution that suits everyone. I live in Muang Chonburi and visit Pattaya regularly, not somewhere I would choose to live. An unusual sight on Pattay beach.
morrobay
All the authorities have to do to stop crime long the promenade would be to take away the lady boy horror show and round up the other local lowlifes like they do in other seaside resorts. ( And why are the authorities not doing this ????) This destroy it to save it / throwing the baby out with the bathwater is not good for tourism. Sure is good for the contractors and kickbacked. That also can be said for that parking garage and concrete monstrosity at Lam pho seafood market Edited June 14, 2023 by morrobay
redwood1
I will say the ongoing destruction of Pattayas parks has very little to do with low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls.... The first destroyed park was the park at Bali-Hi... That park was turned into a parking garage.....There were no low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls hanging out there... Lam pho seafood market had no low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls hanging out there... Jomtien Beach had few to very few low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls hanging out there... That streach of road between Jomtien Beach and Pratumnak hill had very few to no low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls hanging out there... All these places got whacked with almost no low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls hanging out there... Only Pattaya beach had low-lifes, ladyboys, or working girls hanging out there in big numbers.......And they are still there, just fewer in numbers than before.... So after $$$$$$$$$ has been spent whacking all these places the only thing that has been accomplished is the contractors got rich and all the people were left with awful sterile beach fronts and awful parks... They killed the charm and traded it in for lots and lots of concrete and palm trees.... Edited June 14, 2023 by redwood1
scubascuba3
i went to Naklua seafood market today, the park isn't open yet, no seats visible but there is room if they wanted to. Disagree, its all about money. When Lan Pho started to get busy, it drew attention, and then its all about how can we benefit from this.
