A 60 year old man discovered the body of a newborn girl, estimated to be two days old, abandoned in a rubbish heap in a bag in Thailand’s Buriram province. The disoriented man, who has a speech disability, protected the body from flies until authorities arrived to investigate and recover the infant.

Yesterday, Pol. Lt. Col. Chaleow Phayakkul, an investigative officer from Lam Plai Mat Police Station in Lam Plai Mat district, received a report from local residents about the discovered body of a newborn baby at the Khee Dun garbage dump in Moo 2, Kok Klang sub-district. Rescue volunteers from Samakkhi Lam Plai Mat Public Welfare Association quickly arrived at the scene.

The team found the disabled man next to the baby girl’s body, swatting away flies with a caring and concerned attitude. The infant was estimated to have been deceased for around five hours. Preliminary examination of the baby suggested she was two days old, with her body weighing no less than 3.5 kilograms, while her skull appeared to have been crushed by a hard object.

Saddening that someone could do this to a baby.

Very sad.  I guess they felt they had to keep it a secret?  Aren't there places you can leave a baby?  Charities, monasteries, etc.?

Maybe a very young mother of a very young couple who dropped the baby and could not afford the medical expenses to bring her to a hospital.
Thailand has billions of baht revenue from tourists but nothing to help young mothers/parents.
Sad truth

An utter disgrace. Surely, whatever the circumstances, the mother could find a way to give her baby a chance at life, rather than banging her on the head and chucking her into a rubbish dump? RIP little one. You deserved better than this.
