I just got an SMS message saying I'm eligible for a PEA meter refund. There's a link to click on (which I didn't do as I'm a little suspicious of the message).

Does anyone know if there are such refunds currently going on, or whether this might be some sort of scam?

Obviously a scam, when you open the link they probably ask you for personal details, banking information etc.

If they wanted to refund you anything they could just deduct it from your bill next month.

The meter deposit refund is completely genuine. However you go to the PEA to process it.

That is not the way the scheme works.

It is likely to be a scam as the meter refund scheme started about 9 months ago and was never done by SMS.

Not sure about PEA, but I got my meter refund from MEA in 2020. There was an online web form at the time. Why not take the text to your local PEA office and ask them?
